Solar Power Support Project

1. Renewable Energy Residential Support Program

By supplying renewable energy systems to single-family and multi-family (public) housing, this program aims to reduce residential electricity consumption and expand the deployment of renewable energy systems. Through these efforts, it contributes to greenhouse gas reduction, fosters a stable investment environment and market formation for the renewable energy industry, and promotes the creation of a renewable energy market.

1-1. Eligibility for Support

Eligible Housing Types Single-family housing, Multi-family housing
Applicant Single-family Housing Current or prospective owner of an existing or newly built house
Existing Multi-family Housing Owner of the multi-family housing or a representative of the residents (etc.)
※ Written consent from all residents (all households) or submission of meeting minutes approved by the residents’ representative is required
New Multi-family Housing Developer/contractor representative or resident representative of multi-family housing under construction (etc.)
※ Must be new multi-family housing where installation can be completed within the installation deadline
If the ownership of a single-family house is registered as shared ownership in the building register or the building ledger, the application must be submitted under the name of the largest shareholder. The installed equipment will be recognized as the property of the applicant (provided that a written consent from all co-owners is submitted).
For newly built houses, support is provided only for those that can be equipped within the installation completion period for each energy source from the time of application. Failure to complete the installation within the deadline will result in project cancellation.
The installation of electrical facilities (such as solar PV systems) is permitted only when the contract type with KEPCO is classified as residential.
Buildings owned by the national or local government are excluded from eligibility for support.
Only self-use (private) facilities are eligible for support.
For solar PV subsidy programs, duplicate support with the solar PV rental program is not allowed.
Houses subject to the local government’s Renewable Energy Mandate Program are not eligible for support (however, additional installations are eligible if the building has already met the mandatory ratio).

1-2. Required Documents

If the ownership of a single-family house is registered as shared ownership in the building register or building ledger, the application must be submitted under the name of the largest shareholder, and the installed equipment will be recognized as the property of the applicant.

However, a written consent from all co-owners must be submitted.

2. Renewable Energy Building Support Program

By providing government grants and support to cover a portion of the installation costs for renewable energy systems, this program aims to promote the commercialization of newly developed renewable energy technologies. For technologies that have already been commercialized, it seeks to stimulate market creation and expansion through the active dissemination of renewable energy systems.

2-1. Project Overview

A large-scale deployment program for commercialized systems intended for self-use.

2-2. Eligible Applicants

Individuals wishing to install renewable energy systems for self-use in general buildings or facilities, who are the owner (or representative in the case of co-ownership) or prospective owner listed on the building register of the installation site for the renewable energy system.

Excludes housing support programs (single-family houses, multi-family houses, public housing), regional support programs, and buildings subject to mandatory installation requirements.

  • Building Support Program

All buildings and facilities except for houses subject to Article 21 and buildings/facilities owned or managed by local governments subject to Article 26 of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy Notice, Regulations on the Support of Renewable Energy Facilities, are eligible.

  • Pilot Project

n cases where the results of technology development are to be applied to all houses, buildings, and ancillary facilities, or where renewable energy systems are to be installed on a trial basis for a certain period to demonstrate new technologies prior to their application.

In accordance with Article 2 (Definitions) of the Act on the Management of Subsidies, buildings and facilities owned or managed by the state are excluded from eligibility for support.

Cautions

Support is provided only for facilities whose installation has been completed after the announcement of the relevant project.

1. If it is confirmed that the project was applied for after the start of installation, the project will be canceled.
2. Facilities installed in buildings owned by the selected participating company are excluded from eligibility.
3. Applicants and participating companies must comply with all relevant laws, notices, guidelines, and project support announcements issued by the Center. Failure to meet the requirements may result in withholding, recovery of subsidies, or project cancellation.
4. During project implementation, all information in the submitted documents must be completed accurately. Any errors, omissions, or misstatements may result in project cancellation.
5. Government subsidies will be paid directly to the participating company upon obtaining consent from the applicant, unless there are special circumstances. Such special circumstances shall be determined by the head of the Center (refer to [Attachment 4] Consent Form for Government Subsidy Payment).
